Transforming My Boudoir Photography Studio into the Vintage-Inspired, Moody, Safe Haven of My Dreams
I always believed I thrived in a simple, minimalist boudoir photography studio, and perhaps for a time, I did. However, after a couple years in my all white space with little decor, I began to feel stagnant, often repeating the same imagery. I still highly value focusing on the most important element: the human subject. But I needed to rejuvenate both my physical space and my mental space, my creativity. While I don’t consider myself a skilled designer, I had clear visions that I felt compelled to realize in my space.
The base of my renovation were the walls. I have been wanting a black wall for some time so that transformation came first and it was quite simple. The textured wall behind the bed however, was not an easy feat. There was plenty of trial and error to get the texture just right. Overall the project took me 3 coats of different shades of paint and 4 nights to complete. It was a labour of love but so worth it. I scoured local listings and shops to find the perfect decor to compliment the pieces I already owned. The green velvet chair has apartment hopped with me for almost a decade and fits so well in the space. Some of my favourite finds are the large gold mirror and the vanity.

The transformation from minimalism to ornate has not been merely a cosmetic change; it is a redefinition of my artistic vision. It has challenged me to push myself and breathe new life into my work in ways I had never imagined.
The evolution of my boudoir photography studio is a testament to the power of reinvention and the beauty of embracing change. From its minimalist beginnings to its now warm, vintage-inspired and moody vibes, my studio has become a sanctuary for creativity and exploration for myself and for my subjects. Once it was complete, I knew that this was only the beginning of an extraordinary chapter in my photographic journey. I can’t wait for you to be a part of it.
